Kevin Bentley was elected to Essex County Council in 2009 and appointed as the Deputy Cabinet Member to the Leader. Having served two years in this post he was promoted to the Cabinet in 2011 and appointed Deputy Leader to the Council and Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Infrastructure in 2013. He now holds the portfolio for Economic Growth, Skills, Infrastructure and the Digital Economy.
Kevin is also a Colchester Borough Councillor and has previously been Leader of the Conservative Group in Colchester. He has also served in the Colchester Borough Councillor Cabinet of holding the portfolio for Business, Tourism and Leisure. He has also stood for Parliament twice in Colchester.
Outside of politics Kevin is the Chairman of the awarding winning PR agency Mosaic Publicity and is a journalist by profession. Alex Burghart was elected as Member of Parliament for Brentwood and Ongar in June this year. Alex is the son of two teachers and became a teacher himself after reading history at Oxford before taking his doctorate at King’s College London where he also lectured.
Alex has been a policy adviser at the Department for Education, where he worked on the Munro Review of Child Protection and, just prior to this year’s General Election, was a Special Adviser to the Prime Minister, Theresa May, on social justice.
For four years Alex was Director of Policy at the Centre for Social Justice, the organisation set up by Iain Duncan Smith to tackle the root causes of poverty, where he led research on housing, welfare, education, and family policy. Before working at 10 Downing Street, he was deputy to the Children’s Commissioner. He is now a member of Work and Pensions Select Committee in Parliament.
Alex has sat on the Board of Yarlington Housing Group, was a governor at Queensmill School for children with autism, and has written for the Spectator, the Times Literary Supplement, and the Evening Standard.”

Councillor Louise McKinlay was elected Leader of Brentwood Borough Council in 2009 and was the youngest ever female Council Leader in the country.
Professionally, she spent a number of years in the City and has established her own company, which works with businesses to reduce costs, manage projects and help them to change the way they operate to increase their profits. Her experience in the family business has also provided her with a good understanding of both the corporate and small business worlds and the challenges that come with both.
