On completing a workshop you will automatically be referred to a BEST Growth Hub Navigator. An administration cost of £10 applies to all 3 hour workshops and £20 for 6 hours. SOUTH EAST BUSINESS BOOST IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS
South East Business Boost (SEBB) has secured support for businesses in Essex from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). SEBB is specifically targeted at small to medium sized businesses or start-ups in the South East (SELEP) area who are seeking to grow their business. Grants between £1,000 and £10,000 are available and can fund up to 30% of the total cost of eligible goods and services.
The grant can contribute to the purchase of a wide range of goods and services related to increasing sales, improving productivity and boosting profitability. Grant applications will be assessed within four weeks of being submitted and funding will be provided retrospectively against evidence of payments for approved items. BUILD A ROCKET COMPETITION – LOCAL EGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY AMBASSADOR NEEDED
Essex County Council’s Education and Industry STEM programme, in conjunction with the Essex Employment and Skills Board (ESB), are in search of a local business operating in the engineering or technology industry to take on an ambassador/industry mentor role to help Becket Keys Secondary School take part in the Build a Rocket Competition.
The competition will see pupils design, build and launch a model rocket to reach a set altitude and flight duration, using specified rocket kit. Industry experts’ are encouraged to work with the school team to help and design a rocket.
The competition has been an annual national event since 2006 and aims to inspire young people into careers within the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) sectors. The volunteer would typically make three or four visits to an after school STEM Club to work with a small group of students. Anybody who comes forward would receive training in the rules of the competition.

MANUFACTURING GROWTH PROGRAMME
The Manufacturing Growth Programme (MGP) provides free advice and support to manufacturing SMEs to help them grow and improve. Offers an independent business review to identify opportunities and create plans for growth and improvement, growth/improvement grants (contributions of 35% to cover implementation costs), connections to wider support to maximise opportunities, access to matched industry experts to provide consultancy and/or coaching tailored to the business needs.
An average project value of £4,000 of support would attract up to 35% Grant contribution (Minimum grant applications accepted: £1000). Larger grants may be considered for exceptional cases (subject to panel approval) for projects demonstrating significant job/new product growth and higher level of applicant contribution (ie >65%). LOCASE – LOW CARBON ACROSS THE SOUTH EAST – BUSINESS GRANTS & ADVICE
The EU funded LOCASE project can provide businesses with match funded grants of up to £10,000 to help cover the cost of energy efficiency measures for any small or medium business and help businesses in the low carbon sector to expand. Grants can help purchase equipment and machinery, pay for research and development, marketing and website development and business development consultancy. SUPERFAST BROADBAND FOR BRENTWOOD BUSINESSES
Essex County Council is leading the Superfast Essex Broadband project, which is being rolled out across the County. The investment will improve the broadband infrastructure available for Brentwood businesses. The aim is for 90% of the County to have access to Superfast Broadband of more than 24Mbs by 2019. GRANT FUNDING TO SUPPORT BRENTWOOD’S RURAL BUSINESSES
£1.8 million grant funding is available until 2020 from the Essex Rivers LEADER European programme. The eligible areas for this programme include rural parts of Brentwood, Colchester, Chelmsford, Braintree, Rochford and Maldon local authority areas. The programme is open to farmers, foresters, small holders, rural businesses (micro and small) and rural communities. Applicants can apply for grants of a minimum £10,000 to a maximum of £100,000, subject to meeting the criteria. For more information please visit:

FOOD HYGIENE TRAINING
Do you need to refresh your food hygiene knowledge? Was your Level 2 Food Hygiene Course 3 years ago or more? If so Brentwood Borough Council can offer you a CIEH Level 2 Award Course in Food Safety to provide you with an understanding of the importance of safety procedures and reporting; effective personal hygiene to food safety; keeping work areas clean and hygienic; identifying sources and risks for food safety and how to keep food safe.
